The Challenge

Developing the Discover website presents a multifaceted challenge that involves addressing several key issues. Some of the challenges to consider in this case study are:

  1. Time Constraints and Complexity: Completing the project within a 10-week timeframe requires prioritizing essential features and avoiding unnecessary complexity.
  2. Feasibility for Developers: Ensuring the project aligns with the developers' technical expertise is crucial to its successful implementation.
  3. Maintaining Focus on Core Concept: To deliver an effective product, it's essential to resist the temptation of adding unrelated features and stay focused on the primary objective of matching job seekers with DISC-based job listings.

The Approach

In response to the challenges presented in this case, the approach focused on the following key elements:

  1. Research and Discovery
  2. Project Objectives
  3. User Flow
  4. Wireframing
  5. Visual Design
  6. Prototyping

Research and Discovery

The research and discovery phase of the project involved conducting interviews with potential users to gain valuable insights into their current job search experiences and their preferences for a personality-based job matching platform. Here are the key findings from the interviews:

  • Most people satisfied with current jobs, but struggle to find personality-matched vacancies.

  • Shorter, concrete personality tests preferred, with clear company insights before applying.

  • Key filters of interest: job level, education, industry, location, and language.

  • Address skepticism towards test results and offer segmented tests for better user engagement.

  • Insights will guide the development of Discover's user-centric job matching platform.

Project Objectives

  • Personalized job matching based on dominant personality traits using the DISC model.

  • Enhance job satisfaction and retention by aligning individuals with suitable roles.

  • Streamline job search with relevant and prioritized vacancies.

  • Create a user-friendly DISC quiz with clear company insights.

Userflow

In this UX case study, we present the initial user flow for Discover. The user flow visualizes how users will navigate through the website to achieve their goals efficiently. The focus is on simplicity and clarity by including only the essential components for a seamless user experience.

Wireframing

The wireframing process for the Discover platform followed a systematic and iterative approach to design an intuitive and user-centric job matching website based on the DISC model. Here is a summary of the wireframing journey:

  • User-Centered Approach: The wireframing process began by understanding user needs and preferences through research and user persona creation. The wireframes were designed with a clear focus on enhancing the job search experience for young professionals.

  • Low-Fidelity Sketches: Initial ideas were translated into low-fidelity wireframes using design tools like Figma. These sketches laid the foundation for the website's layout, structure, and content placement.

  • Iterative Feedback: Stakeholders and potential users provided valuable feedback during the wireframing process. This feedback led to iterative refinements, ensuring the wireframes addressed usability, clarity, and user needs effectively.

Wireframes 1.0, Low Fidelity Flow

  • Mid-Fidelity Wireframes: Based on feedback and improvements, the wireframes evolved into mid-fidelity designs, incorporating more detailed visuals, color schemes, typography, and essential UI elements.
